What Is a Smart Link and How Does It Work?

The Problem Smart Links Solve

When your music is live on 20+ platforms, which link do you share? If you share your Spotify link, Apple Music users have to search manually. If you share your Apple Music link, Spotify users feel left out. A Smart Link solves this by being one link for everyone.

How Does a Smart Link Work?

When a fan clicks your Smart Link:

  1. The Smart Link page detects which country the fan is in and which streaming apps are installed on their device (on mobile) or which platform they prefer (on desktop).
  2. The fan is presented with a clean landing page showing all available streaming platforms.
  3. They click their preferred platform and are taken directly to your release — no searching required.

What Does an InterSpace Smart Link Page Look Like?

Your Smart Link page shows:

  • Your release artwork
  • Release title and artist name
  • Buttons for each streaming platform where the release is available
  • An optional email capture form (to collect fan emails)
  • Optional pre-save button (before release date)

The page is customisable — you can change the background colour, button style, and which platforms appear.

How Do I Get My Smart Link?

InterSpace automatically generates a Smart Link for every release you distribute. Once your release passes quality control and is sent to stores, your Smart Link will appear in your Dashboard → Links.

Your Smart Link URL looks like: https://interspacemusic.com/fm/your-release-slug

What Is the Difference Between a Smart Link and a Bio Link?

  • A Smart Link is tied to a specific release — it routes fans to one song, album, or EP across platforms.
  • A Bio Link is tied to you as an artist — it is your link-in-bio page showing all your releases, social media, and more. See What Is a Bio Link?

Where Should I Share My Smart Link?

  • Social media posts and stories (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, Facebook)
  • Email newsletters to your fans
  • YouTube video descriptions
  • Press releases and EPKs
  • Music blogs and playlist submission emails
  • Anywhere you used to share platform-specific links
