What an artist name change involves
Your artist name on InterSpace is the name that appears on your releases, your dashboard, and ultimately on streaming platforms. Changing it is not an instant edit because your name is linked to releases already submitted, approved, or live.
Before you request a name change
Consider the following:
- Music already live on DSPs will appear under your current name unless you also request a metadata update for those releases (which is a separate process and may take 5 to 10 business days per platform).
- Streaming platform artist profiles (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) are tied to your current name. A name change on InterSpace does not automatically rename your existing platform profiles. Contact us about profile corrections separately.
- Free plan artists with a single artist slot cannot create a second artist name without upgrading their plan.
How to request a name change
- Open a support ticket via the Help Center.
- Use the subject line: Artist Name Change Request.
- In the ticket include:
- Your current artist name (exactly as it appears on your dashboard)
- The new name you want
- Whether you want existing live releases updated to the new name on DSPs, or only future releases
Is there a fee?
An artist name change may incur a service fee. The support team will confirm the applicable charge before making any changes. Changes are not applied until the fee (if any) is paid.
Timeline
The name update on your InterSpace dashboard typically takes 1 to 2 business days. If you also request a DSP metadata update for live releases, allow an additional 5 to 14 business days depending on the platform. Spotify and Apple Music can take longer than Audiomack or Boomplay.
If your first release was rejected and no music is live yet
If you have not had any music go live under your current artist name, the team may be able to reset or update your artist slot at no charge. State this clearly in your ticket so the team can handle it efficiently.
Important: artist name rules
Your artist name must follow InterSpace metadata guidelines: it must not impersonate another artist, include trademark violations, or use offensive language. The team will review new names against these rules before applying the change.
