How to Collect Fan Emails Through Your Smart Link and Pre-Save

Why Collect Fan Emails?

Social media algorithms can reduce your reach at any time. An email list is the one marketing channel you own — you can contact your fans directly, forever, regardless of what any platform does. Artists with active email lists consistently outperform peers at launch day because they can notify thousands of fans instantly.

Enabling Email Capture on Your Smart Link

  1. Go to Dashboard → Links and open the Smart Link you want to edit.
  2. Click Edit Settings.
  3. Enable the Fan Email Capture toggle.
  4. Customise the form:
    • Opt-in text (e.g., "Join my mailing list for exclusive updates")
    • Button label (e.g., "Sign me up!")
    • Whether email is required to see the streaming links (gated) or optional (ungated)
  5. Save changes.

Enabling Email Capture on Your Pre-Save Campaign

  1. Go to Links → Pre-Save Campaigns and open your campaign.
  2. Enable Fan Email Collection.
  3. Choose whether email collection is required (fans must provide their email to complete the pre-save) or optional.
  4. Add your consent disclaimer text — for GDPR compliance, this must clearly state how you will use the email address.

Where Are Collected Emails Stored?

All fan emails are stored in your Dashboard → Fans section. You can:

  • View all collected emails with timestamps and source (which link/campaign they came from)
  • Filter by campaign or date range
  • Export your list as a CSV file for use with email marketing tools like Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or Klaviyo

Legal Compliance (GDPR / CAN-SPAM)

When collecting fan emails, you must:

  • Include a clear opt-in checkbox or statement explaining what fans are signing up for
  • Not pre-tick consent boxes
  • Provide a way for fans to unsubscribe from any emails you send
  • Not sell or transfer their data to third parties without consent

InterSpace provides a standard consent statement that meets GDPR requirements — you can customise it but should not remove it.

What to Do With Your Fan Emails

  • Send a release day email with direct streaming links
  • Share exclusive content — behind the scenes, early access to new music
  • Promote your next pre-save campaign to your existing fans first
  • Announce tour dates, merch drops, and collaborations
