What If My Music Appears on the Wrong Artist Profile?

Sometimes. You can often fix this by reporting the issue directly with the platform (for example Spotify or Apple Music). InterSpace Distribution can help when platforms accept artist separation requests — but only in cases where they support this workflow.

What Is Happening and Why

Your music shows on the wrong artist page when a platform (like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, or YouTube) matched your release to the wrong artist profile. This commonly happens when different artists share the same or similar names, or when artist names have different spelling, accents, or capitalisation.

Once a release has been delivered, platforms control how it is linked to an artist page. InterSpace Distribution cannot directly edit that connection from your account — you or the platform must correct it.

How to Fix Music on the Wrong Artist Page

1. Report the Issue on the Platform Where It Is Wrong

Each platform has its own process for correcting artist pages:

Spotify

  • Log in to Spotify for Artists.
  • Use the content mismatch or artist separation form to report that your music is on the wrong artist page.
  • Spotify manages the fix itself.

Apple Music

  • Log in to Apple Music for Artists.
  • Contact support and choose the “Artist Catalog Issues” topic.
  • Provide your artist name, links to all albums, and the correct artist page link.

Amazon Music

  • Use the Amazon Music for Artists app or web portal to report the issue.
  • If you have not claimed your profile, create an account first, then use “Report Issue”.

Deezer

  • With a Deezer for Creators account you can request an artist separation.

YouTube / YouTube Music

  • Your music may temporarily appear under “Various Artists – Topic” if there is no existing profile.
  • Tracks usually automatically move to the correct topic channel within approximately 30 days.
  • If they do not, you can request a new topic channel or separation.

When Can InterSpace Distribution Help?

If the platform will not correct the issue directly, InterSpace Distribution can file a request with certain partners where they accept artist separation requests. In those cases, you can submit a support ticket through the Help Center.

Before contacting support, please have the following ready:

  • UPC barcodes of the affected releases
  • A link to the correct artist page
  • A link to the incorrect artist page
  • Names of the affected tracks

Please note that InterSpace Distribution cannot help if the platform does not accept artist separation requests — for example, many download partners or platforms that do not have a separation workflow in place.
