Why Formatting Matters
The way you format your artist name and song titles directly affects how your music appears on Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay, Audiomack, and every other platform we deliver to. Inconsistent or incorrectly formatted metadata can cause your releases to appear under different artist profiles, making it harder for fans to find all your music in one place.
Artist Name Formatting
Your artist name should be entered exactly as you want it to appear on streaming platforms. Follow these guidelines:
- Be consistent — use the same spelling, capitalisation, and spacing on every release
- Avoid all-caps — unless that is your established brand name (e.g., WSTRN)
- Do not add promotional text — your artist name should not include phrases like "Official" or "Music"
- Special characters — accents and special characters are supported, but must be consistent across releases
Song Title Formatting
Song titles should follow standard title case unless the lowercase or stylised spelling is an intentional part of the release brand. Avoid:
- Promotional phrases in the title (e.g., "Best Song 2024", "Available on Spotify")
- Excessive punctuation or symbols that are not part of the actual title
- ALL CAPS titles unless the song is stylised that way
Featured Artists
When your track features another artist, the correct format is:
Song Title (feat. Artist Name)
The word "feat." should be in the title field, not added to the primary artist name field. Using "ft.", "Ft.", or "Featuring" instead of the standard "feat." can cause inconsistencies across platforms.
Remixes and Versions
If your track is a remix or alternate version, indicate this in the title using standard notation:
- Song Title (Remix)
- Song Title (Acoustic Version)
- Song Title (feat. Artist Name) [Extended Mix]
Maintaining clean, consistent metadata across all your releases helps ensure your music is correctly organised on every platform and that your royalties are attributed to the right artist account.
