Adding Lyrics to Your Tracks
Lyrics increase engagement and discoverability on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. InterSpace Distribution supports lyrics submission for your releases.
Types of Lyrics
Unsynced Lyrics
Plain text lyrics displayed on the song page without time codes. These are the most common type and show up in platform descriptions or lyric sections.
Synced Lyrics (LRC format)
Timestamped lyrics that scroll in time with the music — the "karaoke" style you see on Spotify and Apple Music. These use the LRC format.
How to Add Lyrics
- Go to your release and navigate to the Tracks step
- Open a track and find the Lyrics field
- Paste your lyrics in the text box
- For synced lyrics, format each line with a timestamp:
[00:14.50] First line of lyrics here
Lyrics Guidelines
- Lyrics must be in the same language as declared for the track
- Do not include promotional content, website URLs, or social media handles in the lyrics field
- Explicit lyrics must be accompanied by the Explicit content flag being set to Yes
Lyrics on DSPs
Not all DSPs display lyrics. Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music are the major platforms that support lyric display. Lyrics typically appear within 24–48 hours after your release goes live.
