How to Add a Spotify Canvas to Your Music

What a Canvas Is

A Spotify Canvas is a short, looping visual (3 to 8 seconds) that plays behind your track on the Spotify mobile app instead of your static cover art. Canvases can make your track feel more engaging and are shareable to social media.

You Add It in Spotify for Artists

Canvases are not part of your InterSpace upload. You add them yourself in Spotify for Artists once your release is live and you have claimed your profile. See How to Claim Your Spotify for Artists Profile.

How to Add a Canvas

  1. Log in to Spotify for Artists (web or app).
  2. Find the track you want to add a Canvas to.
  3. Choose the option to add a Canvas and upload your visual.
  4. Save and publish. It appears on the track for listeners on mobile.

Canvas Requirements

  • Vertical format (9:16), looping video or image.
  • Between 3 and 8 seconds long.
  • No pricing, logos, or contact information in the visual, per Spotify's rules.
  • You must have the rights to any footage you use.

If you cannot see the Canvas option, make sure your release is live and your Spotify for Artists access is approved.
