Transferring Your Catalog to InterSpace Distribution
If you are currently distributed with another company and want to switch to InterSpace, follow these steps to ensure a smooth transfer without losing your streaming history.
Step 1 — Do NOT Take Down Your Music Yet
The most common mistake is removing your music from your old distributor before the new distribution is live. This causes your streams to reset to zero and breaks all existing playlist placements and links.
Step 2 — Re-Submit Your Music to InterSpace
- Create a new release on InterSpace Distribution for each release you want to transfer
- Use the exact same track titles, artist names, and metadata as your existing release
- Enter your existing ISRC codes and UPC barcode — this is critical for maintaining streaming history
- Submit for review and wait for approval
Step 3 — Cancel with Your Old Distributor
Once your release is approved and live on InterSpace, then cancel or remove the release from your old distributor. By keeping both live temporarily, you minimise downtime.
Step 4 — Update Your Links
After the transfer is complete, update any links you have shared (social media, bios, press releases) to point to the new release pages or your SmartLink.
Preserving Your Streaming History
To keep your Spotify stream count, Spotify listeners, and chart history intact when switching distributors:
- Use the same ISRC code for each track
- Use the same UPC code for the release (if you own it)
- Use the same artist name exactly
Important: Streaming history is owned by DSPs and is tied to the ISRC code. Using the same ISRC ensures streams are attributed to the same recording.
How Long Does Transfer Take?
Once your release is approved by InterSpace, delivery to DSPs takes 3–5 business days. Plan your transition accordingly.
