Artist assigned to a wrong profile

Artist Assigned to a Wrong Profile

If your release has been assigned to the wrong artist profile on a streaming platform, or if your music is appearing under a different artist with the same name, here is how to resolve it.

Why Does This Happen?

Streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music auto-match new releases to existing artist profiles based on the exact artist name. If another artist with the same name already exists on the platform, your music may be grouped with their releases.

How to Fix It on Spotify

  1. Claim your Spotify for Artists profile at artists.spotify.com
  2. Once verified, you can report the issue directly through Spotify for Artists under the Release support section
  3. Spotify will separate the profiles — this usually takes 5–10 business days

How to Fix It on Apple Music

  1. Apply for Apple Music for Artists at artists.apple.com
  2. Once your profile is verified, you can flag incorrectly attributed releases
  3. Contact our support team at support@interspacemusic.com — we can submit a correction request on your behalf

How to Prevent This in the Future

  • Use a unique artist name that is not already in use on major platforms
  • Claim your artist profiles on Spotify for Artists and Apple Music for Artists before your first release goes live
  • Make sure your artist name is spelled consistently and exactly the same on every release
Tip: Claiming your artist profiles early gives you direct control over your page, bio, images, and allows Spotify playlist pitching.
